From the moment COVID-19 started affecting Greater Cincinnati, our community asked “How can we help?”
From deliveries of flowers and hot meals to our care teams—to incredible donations to fund new testing equipment and critical needs, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our community:
Launched in March 2020, more than 1,000 supporters donated over $2.5 million to the UC Health Crisis Response Fund. Donations ranged from $25 to private gifts from local foundations and from former Cincinnati Bengal Andy Dalton and his wife JJ.
Through your support:
We rapidly expanded personal protective equipment across the health system, including the purchase of 21,000 N95 masks in the first months of the pandemic.
Opened drive-thru testing tents outside UC Medical Center and West Chester Hospital.
Supported new research operations on this disease, data analytics systems and equipment to expand COVID-19 testing— more than quadrupling the testing capacity of the UC Health Precision Medicine Laboratory.
The UC Health Cares Fund has been made possible because of the generosity you’ve shown in donating to past Above and Beyond campaigns. Gifts to the UC Health Cares Fund supported UC Health employees by providing short-term, emergency financial support to those facing serious financial hardship as a result of unforeseen and unpreventable circumstance, and who were struggling with housing, utilities and other basic living expenses. In 2020, more than $57,000 was awarded to UC Health employees through the cares fund, most for support related to COVID-19.
