Your physician may order tests such as lab work or X-rays. (Please be sure that your tests are performed at a facility that is approved by your insurance company.) If you are to receive a non-urgent test at a UC Health hospital, we can arrange for a scheduler from the hospital to call you to set up an appointment. Ask your physician how long it may take to get the results back. Turnaround time of test results vary widely, depending on the type of test performed.
When your doctor receives the results, he or she will need time to review them. We do our best to notify you about your test results soon after the doctor has reviewed them. Some offices mail postcards to notify patients of normal test results. Critical test results will be reported to you as soon as possible.
We may ask you to schedule a follow-up appointment so your doctor can discuss the results with you.
