The purpose of the study is to compare the amount of weight lost after orthognathic surgery to determine if there is a statistically significant difference in the amount of weight between surgeries which are mandibular, maxillary, or double jaw surgery. Secondarily the study will compare the amount of weight lost after orthognathic surgery to determine if there is a statistically significant difference in the amount of weight lost based on the diet protocol, all liquid or soft-chew, which is recommended post-operatively. The objective of the study is to record the pre-operative and post-operative weights of patients undergoing orthognathic surgery to be able to make the determination if there is a statistically significant difference. There are two specific aims to this study. Aim 1: Compare the amount of weight lost by patients six weeks postoperatively after maxillary, mandibular, and double jaw orthognathic surgery to investigate if there is a statistically significant difference between the three. Aim 2: Compare the amount of weight lost by patients six weeks after orthognathic surgery by whether the patient follows an all-liquid diet or a soft non-chew diet for the first week post-operation.
