The SHIP Trial seeks to provide independent evidence to inform regulatory approvals for HPV testing by self-collection for cervical cancer screening in the United States. Self-collection approaches under evaluation in the SHIP Trial include specific self-collection device/HPV testing assay combinations and their associated instructions for use (IFU) and specimen processing steps submitted for regulatory review to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by various industry sponsors. Evidence from the SHIP Trial is expected to inform FDA’s pre- and post-regulatory approval considerations.
