- Type of Study: Observational/Survey
The purpose of the proposed study is to develop a registry of injured and uninjured para athletes to collect injury data over time, called the Para Athlete Research for Wellness, Injury Prevention, and Sports Medicine Excellence (PARA-WISE) registry. This registry is one of the few of its kind, addressing a significant gap in documenting injury surveillance in the para athlete population where most cover traditional athletes. Researchers in para sport, adaptive sport, and physical disability medicine and health services research will benefit greatly from this registry of para athlete injury and return to sport data by using it to perform additional research that will provide insight into additional gaps and effective interventions to improve health and physical activity in this understudied population.
