Cardiothoracic Surgery Outcomes

To determine the contributing factors to various outcomes in Cardiothoracic - including cardiac surgery, transplant and heart failure, thoracic surgery in emergency/elective conditions, and surgical critical care. This study is designed as a retrospective chart review. Patients will be selected from January 2013 through present from billing databases, the specific cardiothoracic registry and the existing critical care and ventilator databases. Demographics, preoperative data, intraopoerative and surgical and non surgical complications will be collected. Specifically, will include major adverse cardiac events (stroke, myocardial infarction, reoperation for cardiac causes, any cardiac arrhythmia, primary graft disfunction, acute or hyperacute rejection, rehospitalization for cardiac, cerebral or vascular causes), surgical complications (bleeding, re-exploration for bleeding, deep or superficial wound infection, atrial fibrillation, respiratory failure, prolonged intubation, need for tracheostomy, kidney failure requiring or not renal replacement therapy, bowel ischemia or limb ischemia, pneumothorax, pleural effusion, pericardial effusion), quality metrics according to the society of thoracic surgery requirements. Criteria:

Adult Individuals Undergoing Or Undergone Cardiac Surgery, Transplant And Heart Failure Surgery, Thoracic Surgery In Emergency/Elective Conditions, And Patients In Surgical Critical Care.
