In this role, Alessandrini will be responsible for leading teams to improve the quality, safety and effectiveness of the clinical programs across UC Health. She will report to President & Chief Executive Officer Richard P. Lofgren, MD and will oversee and support three associate chief medical officers: Robert Ernst, MD, Brad Mathis, MD and Stewart Wright, MD
Alessandrini currently serves as professor and associate chair of outcomes and process improvement in the department of pediatrics within the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She serves as the Assistant Vice President for Improvement Integration within the James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center where she works with clinical institutes, divisions and business units to manage strategically aligned clinical portfolios focused on improving outcomes, experience and value of care.
She has also been practicing clinically in pediatric emergency medicine for 25 years.
In addition, Alessandrini directs the Quality Scholars Program in Healthcare Transformation where she leads training for inter-professional fellows and faculty (physicians, nurses, psychologists, physical therapists) to rigorously apply quality improvement methods to improve child health and healthcare. She is actively engaged in teaching improvement science both locally and nationally. Alessandrini is also currently a member of the UC Health board and she chairs the board’s Patient Care Committee. She will transition from the board as she assumes her new role.

Alessandrini has served on multiple national committees for healthcare quality, including the National Quality Forum. She is a member of the board of directors for the Academy for Healthcare Improvement (AHI) and serves on the Leapfrog Hospital Advisory Committee.

Alessandrini completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Her residency, including time as chief resident, was completed at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She received her masters’ degree in clinical epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania and her undergraduate degree in biology from Marquette University.
