With the Right Treatment, You Can Get Back Into Your Rhythm
One can easily take a normal heart rhythm for granted, but when you experience an irregular heartbeat, palpitations or fluttering, concerns for life-threatening complications will immediately appear. Disturbances of the heart’s rhythm, also known as arrhythmias, involve abnormal electrical activity of the heart. Our electrophysiology laboratories – the place where we study and cure the abnormal electric rhythms in the heart – are some of the most advanced in the area, offering new technology that helps identify and heal the cause of irregular heartbeats. This helps our specialists, who are at the forefront of this rapidly evolving field, in their goal for every patient: fast diagnosis and thorough intervention.
About Our Program
The electrical system of the heart, through a series of complex biochemical, electrical and physiological events, permits intricate and well-coordinated electro-mechanical activity of the cardiac chambers during each contraction, or heart beat. This complicated cardiac network is designed to maximize efficiency and performance, and to adjust to various situations like exercise, stress and rest. Arrhythmias are common and can have various presentations, ranging from being life-threatening to just bothersome due to symptoms. “Cardiac arrhythmia” describes a large and diverse group of conditions. They can be either inherited or acquired, and can appear in isolation (primary arrhythmias) or in association with other heart-related or systemic conditions (secondary arrhythmias).
We Treat Common and Complex Conditions
- Palpitations
- Tachycardia, Supraventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Tachycardia
- Bradycardia
- Ventricular Fibrillation, Atrial Fibrillation
- Long QT syndrome
In Our Hospitals We Perform
- Pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, including subcutaneous ICDs
- Cardiac Re-synchronization / biventricular pacing
- Laser Lead extractions
- Diagnostic EP studies and supraventricular tachycardia ablations including: atrial tachycardia, AV node reentrant tachycardia and Wolf Parkinson White syndrome
- Paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation ablation
- Typical and complex atrial flutter ablation
- Ventricular Tachycardia Ablation including outflow tract, endocardial and epicardial origin
- Diagnosis and Management of Channelopathies: Long QT, Brugada, CPVT
- Diagnosis and Management of other Familial and Acquired Sudden Cardiac Death Syndromes: right ventricular dysplasia, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, ischemic and non-ischemic cardiomyopathies.
We See the Power of a Healthy Heart
- Our Arrythmia Center is a regional leader with a dedicated atrial fibrillation management program. Patients can receive the full spectrum of care, including medical management, interventional procedures, called ablations and surgery, with everything from evaluation to treatment taking place under one roof. We are employing state of the art cardiac mapping systems, intracardiac ultrasound, radiofrequency and cryoablation technologies for the most complex arrhythmias encountered. We focus on minimizing the patient’s exposure to radiation and shorter duration of procedures, while maintaining exemplary results.
- We use the most modern technology available to manage mechanical support devices, including MRI-safe and wireless pacemakers and defibrillators. We are proud of our remote monitoring system that allows us to permanently record device-detected arrhythmias.
- Our lead extraction program is the busiest in the region, due to our expertise in advanced lead management.
- Our team of board-certified electrophysiology physicians, nurse practitioners, and electrophysiology laboratory team provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment, with a proven track record of improved outcomes for patients.
