UC Health and the University of Cincinnati will once again celebrate the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mark your calendars and RSVP to attend the 46th annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Ceremony.

The 2019 celebration ceremony will be emceed by the Honorable Fanon A. Rucker, Hamilton County Municipal Court judge, and will feature opening remarks by Richard P. Lofgren, MD, UC Health president and CEO, and Mia Mallory, MD, associate dean, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, at the UC College of Medicine.
This year’s ceremony builds from a line in Dr. King’s Letter from Birmingham Jail: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Keynote speakers and recipients of this year’s Humanitarian Awards are David Singleton, Esq., executive director of the Ohio Justice & Policy Center, and Tyra Patterson, community outreach and strategy specialist with the Ohio Justice & Policy Center.

Receiving special “Diversity in the Workplace” recognition will be Jensine’ Norman, MD, and Joi Moore, MD, founding members of the Minority Housestaff Association at UC, which serves to create opportunities for the advancement of underrepresented housestaff (resident physicians) through mentorship, networking, professional development and community engagement

Other program highlights include performances by the Cincinnati Opera, New Jerusalem Choir and Deuces Music. Rev. Damon Lynch Jr. will offer the invocation and benediction.
