Mamie Thant, MD, has subspecialty training in hematology and transfusion medicine, with an overall focus on classical hematology. Dr. Thant chose classical hematology because the field is fascinating and there is a great need for experienced clinicians in this area.
Dr. Thant’s clinical and research interests lie in the intersection of women’s health and classical hematology, particularly sickle cell disease, bleeding and clotting disorders, and pregnancy. Her favorite part of healthcare is getting to know her patients. She enjoys forming a healthcare alliance with them and the rest of their care team. She loves to help patients find the confidence to make positive changes in their health.
When asked what “In Science Lives Hope” means to her, Dr Thant said it means that academic medical centers are in a unique position to translate cutting-edge innovations in healthcare into real improvements in patients’ quality of life.
Dr. Thant enjoys spending her free time with her two young children.
