Amy Goodman-Brown, PMHNP-BC

Amy Goodman-Brown is a nurse practitioner who specializes in psychiatry and mental health care.

Amy will spend her time caring for patients at Timothy Freeman, MD, Center for Developmental Disabilities at the UC Health Clifton campus. She believes in a humanistic, person-centered, care approach which is needed to assist individuals in achieving optimal health and well-being, especially for those individuals with conditions that may diminish their ability to communicate personal needs and choices.

Amy strives to provide compassionate and evidence-based mental health care to the individuals she serves by focusing on their unique healthcare situations, identifying unmet needs, and aligning treatment with their values and healthcare goals, in hopes of reducing their psychological and behavioral distress and improving their lives in a meaningful way.

Amy’s philosophy of care is what fueled her to focus her career on psychiatry and mental health care. “Those of us who gravitate toward and choose to work in psychiatry and mental health are intrinsically motivated to do so,” she said. “Often this drive and curiosity is initially due to some personal, family, or occupational experience or challenge that left us with no choice but to know more, do more, and advocate for more and better care. We find our people - others who choose to do this work, and then somewhere along the way we find our purpose, too”.

Amy earned her BSN at the University of Cincinnati in 2017, her MSN at Northern Kentucky University in 2023, and her Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification at the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2024.
