“We are very pleased with the recognition of what we do at UCMC in heart care.  But the awards are not what motivates us. Every day our team works together to bring our patients the very best technology and science to provide compassionate, state of the art care.  Cincinnati deserves exceptional care --that’s our mission,” said Charles Hattemer, MD, Chief of UC Health Cardiology and Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the UC College of Medicine. "We are honored to be recognized among our nation’s best hospitals.”

The list compiled by Becker's Hospital Review recognizes programs that consistently deliver exceptional patient outcomes, boasting highly skilled team members and leading-edge research in the field of heart care. This distinction is bestowed upon hospitals and health systems that have demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the lives of heart patients nationwide through exceptional cardiology programs. The evaluation process conducted by Becker's Hospital Review's editorial team involved an assessment of rankings and awards from reputable organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS, The Leapfrog Group and more. The final roster is a celebration of the hospitals and health systems that lead the way in providing top-notch heart care services, according to Becker’s.

"At UC Health, we have developed expertise in the full range of cardiac care, from coronary artery issues to advanced heart failure," Hattemer said.  "Drawing on our clinical experience, our research, and our commitment to science, we tailor treatment plans to each patient's unique needs. Whether it's a standard procedure, a complex operation requiring advanced technology and expertise, or an opportunity to participate in a clinical trial exploring promising therapies, we aim to provide the best possible care."

UC Health’s Heart Care Program has achieved several recent milestones, including ranking in the top 10 percent nationwide for patient outcomes in adult heart transplants, pioneering the endoscopic triple valve procedure in the United States, and receiving the prestigious American Heart Association Get with the Guidelines Heart Failure Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award.
