UC Health, Greater Cincinnati’s adult academic health system, has expanded inpatient and outpatient neurosurgery care at West Chester Hospital, providing patients with more options closer to home.
“We are pleased to meet this need in the community by growing access to advanced, subspeciality neurosurgery care within the northern suburbs of Cincinnati,” said Joseph Cheng, MD, associate director of the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute and chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. “We know that surgery is not always the answer. Our providers specialize in non-surgical and minimally invasive techniques as well as traditional surgery, treating every condition from the common to the complex. We bring together experts from eight subspecialties to help get patients quickly on the path toward recovery and back to the things they love.”
The new services at West Chester Hospital include a dedicated neurosciences inpatient unit that opened in December 2023 to provide care for neurology, neurosurgery and spine patients. The unit includes 18 dedicated beds for inpatient care, as well as a highly skilled nursing staff trained in specialized neurological care.
UC Health has also added state-of-the-art technology at the hospital, including a new Medtronic O-arm™ imaging system added in February to enable the highest level of surgical care for spine, cranial and orthopedic patients.
