Shumway’s career in healthcare began in frontline positions at Utah Valley Hospital before he shifted focus toward healthcare administration and academic medicine. In addition to his current and previous roles at University of Utah Health Care, Shumway has held administrative positions at University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Listed in 2016 as a “Rising Star” by Becker’s Hospital Review, Rick has presented at many national conferences on topics including value-based care and service line growth. He holds a bachelor of science in public health from Brigham Young University and a master of health services administration from the University of Washington.
