Physical therapy for orthopedic rehabilitation involves the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system. This includes management of sprains and strains, arthritis, muscle, tendon and ligament injuries, back and neck problems, joint and spine post-surgical care, and amputations as examples. Physical therapists perform comprehensive evaluations to accurately assess the individual’s condition and develop a treatment plan to address the individual’s specific needs. Stretching and strengthening, joint mobilization, and modalities such as hot packs/cold packs and electrotherapy (electrical stimulation) are commonly used to relieve pain, restore mobility, increase strength and improve function. Whether the goal is to get back on the field, return to work, or function more independently at home and in the community, our physical therapists work with individuals to help them return to their desired functional level.
