2021 In Retrospect

092021 Community Highlights

UC Health has served as a continued leader as our community responds to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Community Relations team is proud to have played an important and integral role in providing support, education and connection during this challenging time. Below is just a snapshot of some of our activities:

Leaders Participate in Community Updates

UC Health leadership and physicians regularly participated in forums, Facebook Live broadcasts and Zoom calls to address the regional response to the pandemic, how the community can stay safe and also answered health-related questions from audiences.

Center for Closing the Health Gap’s 17th Annual Health Expo

On April 24, 2021, UC Health volunteers joined forces with the Center for Closing the Health Gap for the return of the Health Gap’s Health Expo. While last year’s main event took place virtually, the Health Gap also hosted a community vaccination event at Music Hall. The event was part of the “Get Out the Vax” weekends, a campaign supported by the Cincinnati Health Department and Hamilton County Test and Protect. UC Health and other area hospitals joined forces to provide COVID-19 vaccinations.

Su Casa Community Outreach Days

Throughout the year, UC Health volunteer ambassadors joined the Su Casa Hispanic Center during the monthly Su Casa Community Outreach Days. Volunteers helped the Su Casa staff distribute food packages, coats, diapers and personal protective equipment to families in need of assistance.

Cincinnati NAACP First Annual Block Party

On July 17, 2021, UC Health was proud to serve as the sponsor of the Cincinnati NAACP’s First Annual “Our Community, Our Voice” Block Party in Avondale. UC Health and the 513 Relief Bus team joined the fun-filled afternoon to offer attendees COVID-19 vaccinations and blood pressure screenings.

16th Annual Back2School Carnival

In August 2021, UC Health volunteer ambassadors lent a helping hand at the Neighborhood Back2School Carnival at Seasongood Square Park in Avondale. The carnival, organized by Ennis Tait Ministries, is a free community event designed to provide school children with school necessities while also offering health and safety education through the support of local organizations. Each year, the event provides more than 1,000 children and their parents with an abundance of school supplies.

UC Health Spreads Cheer for the Holidays

In the spirit of the holiday season, UC Health employees came together to spread cheer and goodwill to our neighbors by collecting nonperishable food, toys and winter gear. The UC Health Holiday Giving Drive began on Nov. 1 and ran through Dec. 10. In total, UC Health employees collected items to fill over 25 large barrels of donated goods to share with families in our region. A huge thanks goes out to our partnering organizations, including: the Caring Place, Madisonville Education and Assistance Center, Reach Out Lakota, Rockdale Academy and St. Vincent DePaul for helping us reach families in our community!
