In January 2021, UC Health opened a liver transplant clinic in Florence, Kentucky, and at West Chester Hospital to offer patients better access to liver transplant care closer to their homes.

In March 2021, we honored our doctors for their unwavering dedication, excellence and compassion as part of National Doctors’ Day. Our doctors’ commitment to advancing healing and reducing suffering while providing world-class care, education and research throughout the pandemic, continued to make us a unique source of hope for our community.

UC and UC Health launched a Phase 3 clinical trial for the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in August 2020. Jarelle Marshall, a 37-year-old IT professional, was the first patient to receive a dose in the study.

In 2021, 222 UC Health physicians from 83 specialties were ranked among the Best Doctors in America and Top Doctors in Cincinnati for continuously delivering outstanding care.

UC Health partnered with Messer Construction Co. to support its Urban Workforce Development Initiative (UWDI), which helps to address the skills gap, talent shortage and diversity challenges in construction and offer more opportunities for residents in Cincinnati’s urban core starting with Uptown.

West Chester Campus expanded neurosurgery procedures and services. Diagnostic cerebral angiography is now performed at West Chester Hospital by Charles J. Prestigiacomo, MD, UC Health neurosurgeon and professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the UC College of Medicine.

West Chester Hospital was once again named to Cincinnati Enquirer’s Top Workplaces (eighth year in a row) and Best Workplaces in Ohio (fifth year in a row).

Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care was named a 2020-21 “Best Nursing Home” by U.S. News & World Report.
