01Welcome and Thank You from Our Interim President & CEO
Friends of UC Health,
I am proud to present 2021 In Retrospect, our health system’s annual report, which highlights many of our milestones and achievements over the past year. Here, you will find historic moments in research and COVID-19, inspirational stories of our patients, features on some of our incredible nurses, UC Health’s role in our community, an update on our Clifton Campus Revitalization and much more.
Throughout 2021, we continued to face unprecedented challenges that demanded the kind of leadership and hope that only UC Health can provide to our community.
We proudly served as the region’s only Level I adult trauma center through the unrelenting delta and omicron variants of COVID-19. Our incredible physicians, nurses and employees were prepared and ready to take care of anyone who needed us—from a simple test to the most complicated and life-threatening healthcare challenges—all day, every day.
We brought forth the future of innovation and leading-edge medical care to Cincinnati as we continued building the new Emergency Department and Surgical Building on our Clifton Campus. This will surely be a jewel in this city and will attract people not only locally, but also from around the world to receive world-class care right here for years to come.
As we look ahead to 2022 and beyond, we will continue to invest in our people, facilities and services.
We remain committed to becoming a Best Place to Work and 5-Star Health System as we provide an inclusive environment that supports the diversity of our employees, physicians, patients, visitors and community, as it is our vision to advance healing and reduce suffering for all. We are united in this goal now more than ever.
A special thank you to our community leaders and government officials for their continued support of UC Health and our 12,000+ employees and clinicians. The work we do isn’t possible without them.
By establishing a strong foundation in Our UC Health Way and PRIIDE values—Patients and Families First, Respect, Integrity, Inclusion, Discovery and Empathy—we have full confidence that we can reach new heights thanks to our firm foundation.
I am looking forward to an even brighter future.
Sincerely,
Rick Hinds
