Pilates

pilatesThe goal of Pilates is to restore muscle strength and length, correct faulty movement patterns, and to improve core control and body awareness.  The exercises are adaptable to all levels of fitness and can be applied to multiple diagnoses.  Pilates’ system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning to advanced.  Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises.  There are several benefits to Pilates including:

  • Increases core strength, stability and peripheral mobility
  • Helps prevent injury
  • Balances strength and flexibility
  • No impact and easy on the joints
  • Can be customized to suit everyone from rehabilitation patients to elite athletes
