Recommended Screenings

At the Women’s Center, we specialize in advanced endoscopic procedures that help diagnose and treat digestive diseases and disorders. Sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and upper endoscopy (also called EGD) are common non-surgical procedures used to examine the digestive tract. These procedures can help your physician determine what may be causing your GI symptoms, diagnose conditions or treat digestive system problems. Examination and treatment are important as some digestive diseases and disorders may lead to serious damage to the GI tract if left untreated. Unless you’re having GI symptoms or are at a higher risk for developing colon cancer, these procedures are generally recommended every 5 – 10 years for men and women over the age of 50.
