2017

  • Received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for applying the most up-to-date, evidence based treatment guidelines to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Received American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures for patients with heart failure
  • Kidney transplant services celebrates its 50th anniversary, leads in Ohio with the combined highest rate of transplant and good outcomes, according to a report by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients
  • UC Cancer Institute’s Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center has been reaccredited as a “Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence” in the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC) Program—the highest distinction for excellence. The center remains the only program in the Tristate area and only one of 18 centers nationally to gain this distinction
  • Maternity & Newborn Services earned Perinatal Care Certification by The Joint Commission making the hospital the only one in the state of Ohio and one of only 34 nationwide
  • Maternity Care Best Practice Award from the Ohio Hospital Association and Ohio Department of Health

2016

  • Nearly 250 UC Health physicians were listed among Cincinnati Magazine and Cincy magazine’s recent “Top Doctors” and “Best Doctors” lists
  • Performed the hospital’s first heart transplant since the program received formal approval for operation in September 2015
  • Kidney Transplant services is recognized as one of 22 transplant centers in the country to receive the National Kidney Registry (NKR) Excellence in Teamwork Award 2016
  • Recognized by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with an honorable mention in the Healthcare-Associated Venous Thromboembolism (HA-VTE) Prevention Challenge for their innovative and unique approaches to prevention of VTEs among trauma patients
  • Received American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Quality Achievement Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite

  • Received the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program’s highest designation, Gold Safe Sleep Champion! recognizing a commitment to reducing infant sleep-related deaths
  • Named a “Rising Star” by Vizient, the leading consortium of U.S. university health systems, placing UC Medical Center among the top 25 percent of peer institutions
  • Named 2014 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission
  • Designated a “Five Star Hospital” through the Ohio First Steps for Healthy Babies program
  • Received formal approval from the United Network for Organ Sharing and the Ohio Solid Organ Transplantation Consortium for heart transplantation
  • Comprehensive Stroke Center and the Advanced Heart Failure & Transplantation Center both completed successful Joint Commission bi-annual re-certification surveys
  • Opened a new OB/Mobile Care high-risk transport service, a first-of-its-kind in the region
  • Expanded the “Arts in Healing” program integrating performing arts into hospital units and waiting areas
  • Received a three-year re-accreditation from the Commission on Cancer in the category of Academic Comprehensive Cancer Program. First accredited in 1934, UC Medical Center is one of the five oldest Commission on Cancer-accredited cancer programs in the U.S
  • Developed bedside rounding initiative in partnership with UC’s College of Nursing to deliver a coordinated and interprofessional approach to care
  • Named by US News & World Report’s list of Most Connected Hospitals for a commitment to the use of digital technology in health care
