West Chester Hospital Again Named Among Nation’s Safest Hospitals

Oct. 31, 2017

CINCINNATI - West Chester Hospital has again been named among the safest hospitals in the nation by The Leapfrog Group.

West Chester Hospital has received an “A” grade for the high standard of medical care it provides, the hospital’s fourth consecutive honor.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections. The organization evaluates more than 2,600 hospitals twice yearly, and it awards fewer than 850 “A” grades.

“At West Chester Hospital, we put the safety and care of our patients first every single day. This is only achieved through a true team approach among our physicians, clinical staff, and employees, and I am proud that those efforts have again been recognized,” said Tom Daskalakis, Chief Administrative Officer and Vice President for West Chester Hospital.

Developed under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

“It takes consistent, unwavering dedication to patients to achieve the highest standards of patient safety. An ‘A’ Safety Grade recognizes hospitals for this accomplishment,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the clinicians, management and staff of West Chester Hospital for showing the country what it means to put patient safety first.”
