Obesity Medicine Association Award

West Chester, OH UC Health is proud to announce Angela Fitch, MD, FACP, FOMA, Diplomat ABOM as the 2017 Obesity Medicine Association Clinician of the Year. An accomplished healthcare leader, Dr. Fitch shares her expertise with our region and beyond through her roles as Associate Professor of Medicine, Medical Director of Medical Weight Management and UC Health Weight Loss Center, Director of the Executive Health Program, and Vice President of UC Health Primary Care. Dr. Fitch is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics and was certified in obesity medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2013. 

“Dr. Fitch is well-regarded for her clinical work and expertise around obesity throughout UC Health and the region.” said Nita Walker, MD, senior vice president of ambulatory services, “It is exciting to see the larger medical community recognize her dedication to advancing the field of obesity medicine.”

Clinician of the Year is the highest honor awarded by the Obesity Medicine Association. The association consists of more than 2,000 clinical leaders in obesity medicine from across the country working together to advance the prevention, treatment, and reversal of the disease of obesity.  Dr. Fitch also serves as the association’s Secretary/Treasurer, and in 2016, she was awarded the Dr. Peter G. Lindner Award in recognition of her outreach efforts to build awareness of obesity medicine among other professional medical organizations. She was also recently awarded the designation of fellow within the society.

 The UC Health Weight Loss Center is located on the West Chester Campus. Under Dr. Fitch’s leadership the Center has been recognized by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) as a Comprehensive Center through the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The Weight Loss Center empowers patients to reach and maintain a healthy weight through a customized and holistic plan which may include a medically supervised weight loss program, surgical treatments or a combination of both.
