UC Health, UC College of Medicine to Hold 45th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

CINCINNATI (Jan. 8, 2018) — On Friday, Jan. 12, UC Health and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine will host their 45th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The keynote speaker is Verna L. Williams, Interim Dean and Nippert Professor of Law at the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

Each year, the organizations also recognize an individual who goes above and beyond in carrying on King’s legacy in the Greater Cincinnati community.

This year’s recipient of the Humanitarian Award is Kenneth Davis Jr., MD, a UC Health trauma surgeon and professor of surgery and clinical anesthesia at the UC College of Medicine.

The event will take place 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, Jan. 12 in Kresge Auditorium in the University of Cincinnati Medical Sciences Building, 231 Albert Sabin Way, Cincinnati, Oh., 45229.

UC Health employees John Bush and William Johnson will also be recognized for their commitment to the organization’s PRIIDE values, which include diversity. The event will celebrate diversity in healthcare, and UC Health recruiters will be present for those who wish to apply for open positions at UC Health.

Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Fanon Rucker will serve as emcee. Other participants include Pastor Ennis F. Tait of the Church of the Living God, The Rockdale Academy Choir, and Deuces Musik.

The event is free and open to members of the community.
