UC Health has joined United Healthcare’s Ohio Medicaid network.
The agreement, effective immediately, ensures that Ohio Medicaid beneficiaries whose benefit is administered by United Healthcare have in-network access to all UC Health services across the region.
UC Health, which cares for more adult Medicaid beneficiaries than any other health system in the region, now has agreements with all five of Ohio’s Medicaid managed care networks.
“We look forward to serving United Healthcare Medicaid members in Ohio by providing advanced specialty care services, improving overall health, reducing cost and enriching the patient experience,” said Tim Maloney, vice president of payor relations at UC Health.
In-network access gives more chose for United Healthcare Medicaid beneficiaries in Ohio. Specifically, the agreement will:
• Allow United Healthcare Medicaid beneficiaries in Ohio who have previously received advanced specialty services at UC Health to more easily schedule follow up care.
• Offer United Healthcare Medicaid beneficiaries in Ohio the chance to select a UC Health primary care provider if they so choose.
United Healthcare Medicaid beneficiaries in Ohio will also gain access to care through UC Health’s existing telehealth programs and increased access to perinatal services offered by UC Health’s maternal-fetal medicine experts.
UC Health, the region’s only academic health system, has served as a participating provider within United Healthcare commercial provider networks and Medicare Advantage provider networks for many years.
Open enrollment for Ohio Medicaid managed care began Nov. 1 and runs through Nov. 30, 2016.
