Michael A. Thomas, MD is Chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.Thomas has been named one of the Best Doctors in America for nine consecutive years, an honor bestowed on 4 percent of physicians in the United States. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and was a Resident at Wayne State University in Detroit. Thomas completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and is board-certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Thomas is nationally recognized as a leader in the field of assisted reproduction, has over 90 scientific publications and book chapters and serves on national committees including the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, Association for Reproductive Health Professionals, American Society for Reproductive Medicine Patient Education Committee, American Society for Reproductive Medicine Contraceptive Special Interest Group, American Society for Reproductive Medicine Patient Education Committee and American Society for Reproductive Medicine Practice Committee. He is also Director of Reproductive Medicine Research, a clinical research unit that is funded by federal and private institutions, at the University of Cincinnati. Thomas is the Principal Investigator of the Contraceptive Clinical Network on the National Institutes of Health and has grants from many pharmaceutical companies. His research interests include contraception, infertility and the effects of stress on reproductive function.
Thomas has extensive experience in treating multi-faceted infertility issues and endocrine disorders ranging from infertility, abnormal puberty, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome and menopause to disorders of the thyroid and adrenal gland. Thomas is trained in microsurgery and hysteroscopy, as well as operative and laser laparoscopy.
