Daniel Drake Center is a post-acute care hospital that specializes in helping patients reclaim their health after a catastrophic injury or illness. What sets up apart from other hospitals is our focus on patients who need a longer recovery. We are passionate about helping patients rebuild their lives.

Set on a beautiful 42-acre campus, we offer a variety of post-acute care services to help patients throughout recovery, including:

Long-Term Acute Care

  • Hospital-level care for medically complex patients
  • Hospitalists on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and pulmonologists on call around the clock
  • A high-observation unit with specialized monitoring and critical care nursing
  • Specialized advanced wound care, including hyperbaric (HBO) oxygen therapy
  • The use of the most technically advanced respiratory equipment to help ventilator and tracheostomy patients speak and breathe more naturally
  • Procedure room for endoscopic and other minor procedures
  • On-site laboratory, pharmacy and imaging services (including X-ray, ultrasound and CT)

Skilled Nursing Care to help patients transition between hospital and home, and an extended care facility
Outpatient Services for after discharge, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, warm-water aquatic therapy, and more
Assisted Living at Bridgeway Pointe, offering residential living, a nationally recognized dementia care program and transitional and respite care
Wellness Services, such as Parkinson’s exercise class, stroke rehabilitation class, Pilates and warm-water aquatic therapy and exercise
Research Studies to improve patient outcomes and quality of life

We are a not-for-profit hospital and a national leader in innovative patient care, as well as a leading and nationally recognized training institution in many areas, including long-term acute and pulmonary care. We are accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed the same as a traditional acute care hospital. We are held to the same strict standards for quality care and safety. We specialize in caring for patients with:

  • Pulmonary conditions and ventilator weaning needs
  • Complex medical conditions, including those requiring intensive care

Expert Providers and a Team Approach

A team of physicians with specialized training and experience is assigned to each patient. The team is here to work collaboratively with you, providing treatment and helping you to achieve your goals. In addition to addressing your medical needs, treatment also involves participation in therapy, sharing information and developing skills to help you function as independently as possible. Daniel Drake Center’s expert team members include:

  • On-site physician specialists in internal medicine, pulmonology, cardiology, infectious diseases, nephrology and other fields
  • Nursing staff, including advanced practice nurses
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Physical, occupational, recreational and speech therapists
  • Medical psychologist
  • Registered dietitians
  • Case managers and social workers
  • Chaplain and pastoral caregivers
  • Other professionals as needed

Transfer and Admission Information

Once it has been determined that you are ready to transfer to Daniel Drake Center, one of our Assessment Liaisons will work with the case manager, social worker, or discharge planner at the current hospital. Our team will gather the necessary medical information to ensure you receive the care you need and that your transition to Daniel Drake Center is as seamless as possible.

On the day of admission, you or a family member will meet with a representative from our Admissions Department to complete the necessary paperwork. Please bring your insurance card or Medicare or Medicaid identification card. If you have completed a living will or a durable power of attorney for health care, please bring these documents as well.

Visitor Guidelines

Family and friends are welcome at Daniel Drake Center. Suggested visiting hours are 11 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. daily. Children are welcome, but children under 16 must be supervised by adult visitors while in the facility.

Daniel Drake Center is designed with the needs of patients, family members and visitors in mind. Our beautiful campus is easy to navigate and conveniently accessible from I-75, as well as the Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway. Our facility offers:
