Blood Bank Technician Works Like Magic

Angela Miller 1

Angela Miller loves blood. To her, it’s like magic. So though she is often behind the computer or completing paperwork, jumping in to do blood types and screens never gets old.

Miller, who serves as the lead technician for the blood bank within the Immediate Response Lab at UC Health’s West Chester Hospital, has been with UC Health since 2014 following 12 years within a laboratory at another Cincinnati-area health system. Her love for her role translates into a successfully run function. She’s been able to improve blood bank processes and contribute in meaningful ways to the care of patients at West Chester Hospital.

Miller’s love for her work naturally leads her to serve as an advocate for blood donation. She is an active supporter of West Chester Hospital blood drives with Hoxworth Blood Center and has helped to increase the number of on-site blood drives, which helps to boost the supply of blood in the community for those in need of blood products.

She also provides a valuable service to the community by teaching new medical laboratory students at Cincinnati State College. There, she is able to demonstrate through her very own experience the role that the blood bank plays in patient care, and her passion ignites a desire in others to seek blood bank/laboratory careers.
